Vayots Dzor

RA Vayots Dzor marz is situated in Southern part of the Republic. In the South borders with Nakhijevan, in the North it borders with RA Gegharkunik marz, in the East – RA Syunik marz and in the West – RA Ararat marz. Vayots dzor is surrounded with high mountains, waterseparately mountain ranges, that being original natural banks between its and neighbouring territories, turn that into a geographical single whole. Vayots dzor marz has varied fauna and flora. Natural forests comprise 5.7% or 13240.1 ha of territory. In 2008 the share of economy main branches of RA Vayots Dzor marz in total volume of correspondent branches of the republic comprised
 industry 0.8 %,
 agriculture 4.3 %,
 construction 1.2 %,
 retail trade 0.6 %,
 services 0.3 %.
In total volume of marz economy the prevailing is agriculture. Peasant farms mainly deal with cattle-breading, the production of which comprised 63% of volume of gross agricultural product. The vine-growing, fruit-growing and vegetable-growing have certain share in the volume of gross agriculture produce.
The production of non-alcoholic beverages (in particular, Jermuk mineral water) is mainly developed in the industry field, the share of which in total volume of industrial production of the republic comprised 59.5% in 2008, and the grape wine – 9.4%. The main branches of economy of Eghegnadzor town are industry and construction. The most developed branches in industry are grape wine, manufacture of electrical equipments, manufacture of fabricated metal products has some particular role in industry of the marz too.
