Shanghai Expo 2010 took place in Shanghai and lasted for 6 months starting from May 1st thru October 31st, 2010.

 

The theme of the expo was “ Better City, better life”. The selection of the theme was continuation of the 154 year old tradition of world expos, when the themes always reflect the specific historical era of the humanity’s interest.


In Shanghai Expo 2010, Armenia was presented with the “The City of the World” model. The concept of the project was the creation of unprecedented tourism metropolis and each visitor had the opportunity to participate at the creation of the city. 


During 6 months period, the following festivities took place in Armenia Pavillion: “Apricot tree”, Gold and Silk”,   " Armenia-Nation of source”, Armenia for Africa, etc. The National Day of Armenia was celebrated on September 21st. 

By the end of the expo, over 73 million people had visited - a record attendance - and 250 countries and international organizations had participated.

 

The  World Expo 2015 will take place in Milan, Italy  with "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life" theme.
